What the S&S is Light Therapy?

It’s always exciting to be introducing a new treatment—and new benefits—at the clinic. But, to be absolutely transparent, it’s also always a little daunting. There are just so many options, and everything seems like the next big innovation. Like many of you, the Skin & Sanctuary team is naturally drawn to the latest technology, the newest "must-have" treatment, the sparkly new thing. But over the years, we’ve learned that new doesn’t always mean better.

That said, there is one device we have always known we wanted in our arsenal. It’s a treatment that has been praised since the day we opened our doors—by none other than our Lead Aesthetician, Fatma Gunduz. That treatment is Light Therapy. More specifically, Dermalux Light Therapy. And now, after years of admiration, we are beyond thrilled to introduce the Dermalux Tri-Wave—their most advanced and powerful device to date.

A super special thank you to Dr. Mayoni Gooneratne, who helped make this possible, ensuring the Tri-Wave could make its way across the Thames to wonderful East London.

Light Therapy: Not So New After All

Despite the recent buzz around light therapy, the technology itself is far from new. It has been used in medical and aesthetic fields for decades, with origins in NASA’s research on wound healing and cellular regeneration. It has since been widely adopted in dermatology, sports medicine, and even chronic pain management.

At Skin & Sanctuary, we have long trusted Dermalux Light Therapy, incorporating it into our HydraFacials and other skin treatments. If you’ve ever had a HydraFacial with us, you’ve already experienced the benefits of LED therapy. But now, with the Tri-Wave, we can take those benefits even further.

Why Light Therapy?

Light Therapy works by delivering targeted wavelengths of light to penetrate the skin at a cellular level, promoting a range of benefits (these are just a few):

  • Boosts collagen production, improving skin elasticity and reducing fine lines.

  • Reduces inflammation, making it effective for conditions like rosacea and acne.

  • Accelerates wound healing, making it ideal for post-treatment recovery.

  • Enhances circulation and skin repair, leading to healthier, more radiant skin.

Why the Dermalux Tri-Wave?

Because Fatma say so. But also because all the research shows that the Dermalux Tri-Wave is the most effective Light Therapy treatments available today. Unlike standard LED machines, it uses three clinically proven wavelengths—Red, Blue, and Near-Infrared—simultaneously to maximize results. Here’s what makes it a standout:

  • Faster and more visible improvements with fewer treatments.

  • Customisable protocols tailored for concerns such as acne, rosacea, post-procedure healing, and overall skin rejuvenation.

  • Safe, non-invasive, painless, and suitable for all skin types.

Targeted Treatment Programs with Dr. Mayoni Gooneratne

With the Tri-Wave, we are now also in a positon to offer specialised acne and rosacea treatment programs in collaboration with Dr. Mayoni Gooneratne.

  • For acne, Blue Light kills acne-causing bacteria at the source, while Red and Near-Infrared Light calm inflammation and accelerate skin healing.

  • For rosacea, Red and Near-Infrared Light soothe redness, reduce irritation, and strengthen the skin barrier to offer long-term relief.
