September's skin tips from the skin experts
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this particularly as I completely understand the peculiarly hectic demands of September. It’s the month that divides our minds. On the one hand we want to embrace and look forward to the festivities coming our way - and yet, at the same time we (or at least I) continue to hold on to the each ray of sun, it’s warmth and generally everything to do with summer.
But whichever way we’re pulled today even I know there is change to come. Our job at Skin & Sanctuary is to help make that change (and you) as beautifully ready as possible.
So this month I’m handing over to our real experts. They have individually been telling me how it’s time to make those little changes to our treatments, tweakments and skin care routines. How how now is the time to prepare for the what’s to come. So I’ve asked them all to confirm the one tip that they feel needs to be passed on.
Here’s what they had to say …
Dr Saira Vasdev, Medical Director
Without hesitation, my absolute go to recommendation for post summer skin revival is the Perfect Glow. Why? Because this powerful combination therapy targets the two most common skin complaints we encounter following the summer months: Dehydrated skin and Sun damage.
This may look and feel to you like dull skin, rough texture and uneven skin tone. To the expert eye it’s prematurely aged skin as a direct result of DNA damage, collagen loss and dysfunctional cells.
The Perfect Glow will address a raft of these issues all at once whilst increasing the amount of collagen you have in the bank. Results are long lasting and will keep you glowing all the way till Christmas.

Autumn is a great time to review your skincare routine. For those of us that just using serums, SPFs and no moisturiser in the summer months now’s the time to add that additional hydration. Your skin will thank you for it.
The change in the climate, both indoors and out, can affect the skin's moisture level and hydration really becomes key. I am sure that one of my colleagues will mention the benefit of retinol (topical Vitamin A) if not this month then next on the basis that Autumn is the season to truly explore tit’s use. I completely agree - but suggest doing so with hydration in mind. Products containing ceramides, lipids will all really help.
Here are a few of my favourites - Tebiskin® Ceraboost Face Cream, Advance Night Cream by Medik8 and Recovery Creme by ZO® Skin Health. And I’ve ensured they’re available in the clinic.
Dr You-Jin Chang, Aesthetic Doctor
If your skin starts to feel dry and tight when the season begins change such and the onset of colder weather it’s time to consider switching your moisturising vehicle from a gel or lotion to a cream - and if your skin feels extra dry then consider going that little further with an ointment. One that ticks all the boxes (through Autumn and Winter) is the amazing Hydrate Luxe by Obagi Medical®
Dr Vy Nguyen, Senior Aesthetic Doctor
It’s time for your seasonal wrinkle reduction injection. Okay, so Botox®, wrinkle-relaxing treatments, would be my favourite tip at any time of the year. I just love seeing how the almost instant enhancement brings a smile to our client’s faces - and then even more so when they come back for their review. Though we always keep the look natural at Skin & Sanctuary it truly remains the treatment I would suggest to anyone looking to keep Autumn’s frown lines at bay. The perfect ‘back to school’ wellbeing tonic.
It’s important to remember that though It might be turning a little frosty outside at Skin & Sanctuary Botox® is not about freezing your face to the point of emotionless. Rather it offers a subtle, gentle way to freshen up our appearance. If you’ve yet to try it for yourself, you might be surprised to know it’s not just a treatment to soften expression lines, it’s also fantastic at treating excessive sweating and correcting a naturally downturned expression in order to brighten up the look of the face. And the list goes on. It can be used to help with migraines, if you clench your teeth, facial slimming, and some people use it to slim the calves.
I’m not sure if Sonia will let me say Botox® (wrinkle-reduction treatments) as my tip for every month - but I will try.
As the seasons change we may need to consider adapting our skincare. The cooler temperatures, wind and central heating can contribute to us loosing that summer glow.
One treatment that will keep your skin hydrated and Dewy is Profhilo®, already dubbed as the revolutionary “injectable moisturiser”.
Working beneath the skin, profhilo gives a good boost of hyaluronic acid to not only hydrate but also remodel ageing skin
Treatment with Profhilo improves skin tone, texture, hydration and overall radiance. It can help to increase firmness and elasticity and promote healthier and softer-looking skin. Though most commonly used for facial areas, it can also be used in rejuvenating the neck, décolletage, arms, knees and hands
It is one of our most popular treatments and the results speak for themselves.

My September skin care tip would be to not forget about SPF. Even though the weather will be turning colder and the sun less visible those UVA rays are still present, and damage can still occur in colder months. UVA is also able to penetrate through windows and glass so your skin is still capable of damage indoors. Remember the sun’s rays are one of the primary factors that leads our skin to age, have wrinkles, pigmentation, melasma ( I won’t go on) - so if there is one thing we should all do, everyday, indoors and outdoor, and notwithstanding the season, is to use sun protection.
My favourite and one that I love clients to try is the Total Protection Sunforgettable range by Colore Science. It’s not only amazing as an SPF 50, great on all skin types and colours but is also reef-safe , non-nano, non-comedogenic, hypoallergenic, paraben-free, cruelty-free, sulfate-free, phthalate-free, oil-free, gluten-free and fragrance-free. Works great with make-up too. And available at Skin & Sanctuary.
So these are our six September skin tips. We have lots more - to find out call 020 3905 5555 to book your personal consultation.
Thank you again
