We are delighted to announce our event to mark International Women's Day 2024. A special evening during which the fabulous No. 1 Mare Street Gallery will reveal the work of the second artist of their residency with Skin & Sanctuary - the truly talented Amy Gardner.

We really are thrilled to showcase the beautiful works of Amy Gardner, an Australian-born, London-based multimedia artist renowned for her bold use of colour and uplifting images. Amy's artistic journey is a celebration of womanhood, emphasising the power of women supporting women and paying homage to the efforts of generations before us. Truly perfect for International Women’s Day.

Amy's work delves into the experiences of women, exploring hidden labour and the physical movements that define us. Using found images from 1950s advertising archives, she challenges the archaic ideals of the 'perfect woman,' highlighting their persistence in contemporary culture. Amy's art is instinctive, playful, non-apologetic, and bold – a reflection of her commitment to authenticity and celebrating the diversity of women.

What to Expect:

For the next two months, Amy's empowering works will be gracing the walls of Skin and Sanctuary. Additionally, she will be painting a mural, bringing her vision to life within our space. 

All displayed artworks will be available for purchase through No.1 Mare Street Gallery, providing you with an opportunity to bring a piece of Amy's inspiring female vision into your own personal 2024 journey.

And, as it is International Women’s Day the reveal will be accompanied with some celebratory bubbles and snacks - as well as a very special announcement.
